History of Community Action

Community Action began as part of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.  The Federal Government believed that poverty was best fought on a local level.  Community Action Agencies were created to fight poverty locally based on the unique needs of the individual communities they serve.  The video below highlights the history and work of Community Action Agencies’ in our fight against poverty.
